Memory, as diaphanous as a thin breeze-caught curtain and having as many secretive folds, and light, that invigorating houseguest, who is able, quite miraculously, to wheedle a cohesive personality from the dark and tenebrous passageways of our innermost sanctum—these are the twin fuels of our existence.
